The Reverend Timothy (Tim) Ljunggren was born in Tucson, Arizona, but grew up in Flagstaff. He graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1975, and attended Northern Arizona University before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Tim served in the Air Force for eight years, working as the Operations administrator with the Fifth Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. During his time in the Air Force, Tim earned his bachelor of arts degree in sociology; he was also honored by being listed in the Outstanding Young Men of America directory for 1985. He earned two United States Air Force Achievement Medals, and was named the Outstanding Administrator of the Year in 1985.
Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1991, Tim continued his education by attending Bexley Hall, an Episcopal seminary located in Rochester, New York. He also took a commission as a chaplain candidate in the United States Army, and was chosen to attend the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 1993, where he was chosen as his unit’s honor graduate by his peers and supervisors.
After graduation from seminary, Tim served at Trinity Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, as a curate for three years. He was then called to serve as rector of Saint John of the Cross in Bristol, Indiana, in 1997; during his six and a half year tenure, Tim also served in the Diocese of Northern Indiana as the Dean of the Elkhart Deanery, as a member of the Constitution and Canons Committee, as well as serving on other assorted committees and councils.
Tim accepted the call to become the rector of the Church of the Incarnation in Great Falls, and began his tenure on March 1, 2004. Currently, he serves the Diocese of Montana as the chairperson of the Standing Committee and as the chairperson of the Christian Formation Committee. Click here for more information on Fr. Tim.
Tim is married to Jane MacDonald. They have four children. Pictured back row: Fr. Tim, Jane MacDonald & Simon. Front row: Skye, Shea & Sara.
Jane MacDonald was born and bred in Birmingham, England. Transplanted to the colonies when she was in middle school, she spent the rest of her misbegotten youth in Minot, North Dakota. Jane earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Concordia College, and went on to earn a graduate degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of North Dakota. She currently spends her days as an aquatics instructor/trainer when she's not training for another Iron Man Triathlon. When asked she simply replied "would YOU change your name to Ljunggren?"
Simon is a sophomore at C.M. Russell High School. His interests include filmmaking and swimming. He is working on his school's newspaper and he plans on taking driving education next March. He aspires to be a camp counselor at the Episcopal Camp Marshall on Flathead Lake.
Skye is finishing up her last year at North Middle School. Her interests include swimming, volleyball, and going to the mall. She's a member of the North cross-country team and maintains a 4.0 grade point average.
Shea is a fifth grader at Meadowlark Elementary School. She is interested in horses, acting, singing, and her hamster Bear. She had a lead role in last year's production of Robin Hood and plans on winning an Oscar one day, preferably by the time she reaches the age of 12.
Sarah is a third grader and also attends Meadowlark. Her interests include Hannah Montana, pretty ponies, her dogs, and candy. She visited her grandma and grandpa this past summer and spent a lot of time out in her front yard trying to sell lemonade. The common thread linking all four of Tim and Jane's children is their insatiable urge to hang with their friends.
